It appears Google will have an app store of their own, dubbed the “Android Market”. For all intents and purposes, it will likely be very similar to the iPhone app store (download apps for your phone).
When it initally launches, it will be for free apps only, though they plan to launch paid apps at some point in the future. It will also feature much less control than the iPhone store, instead putting it on the users to flag bad apps. The hope is that this will allow apps to be released (and updated) much more quickly, and I think they might be right.

The WordPress app for the iPhone has finally been released and you can find it in the iTunes app store here. I created a draft of this post using it, and it works pretty well. It certainly won’t be my primary blogging tool, but it’ll be very nice to have when I’m on the road. Give it a shot and let us know what you think of it.

If you go download the latest version of iTunes (7.7), you can now browse and download applications for your iPhone and iPod Touch. Of course, you can’t load them yet because the new firmware hasn’t been released, but that is expected by about noon EST today.
There are over 500 applications available, including 135 free ones. I’m quite disappointed to not see much from Google (I was hoping for Gmail, Reader, etc), but overall there is some good stuff.
Personally, I’m pleased to see applications like Evernote and SmugShot in there, along with the expected ones like the Facebook app. What do you see that really grabs your attention?
Dang, I really need an iPhone now…
