AT&T just launched a new QWERTY texting-friendly phone – the Samsung A767 Propel. It comes in four cool color combinations. It’s $79.99 with a two year contract, that is with a $50 mail-in coupon as well. So, the real price is $129.99. Without a contract the phone is $279.99. It’s not the cheapest phone, but it looks pretty cool and is chock full of features. It has 3G speed if you are in an area that supports it. Throw in a 1.3 megapixel camera, full texting, mail, etc… and you have a solid, modern phone. If this sounds like a cool phone to you, check out your local AT&T retailer.

Samsung has released another firmware update for the popular Instinct, and it seems to be a good one. According to Gizmodo, the update includes some major enhancements to the browser. The browser seems to to be the achilles heel of most phones (just ask my wife about her BlackJack), so it’s nice to see them working hard to make this one better.
They claim a 10x improvment in rendering speed, which must be a stunning improvement for people that are used to the old one.
In addition, you can now hide the browser controls (to give you more screen real estate), the favorites UI has been improved, and there have been 34 other browser-related tickets closed. Not bad!

Just a few weeks after its first update, the Samsung Instinct has received its second major firmware update.
They’ve chosen to roll out this update in an interesting fashion. Rather than pushing out one big update for the phone, they’re pushing out a series of updates for each affected feature. The updates include:
- Picture mail (fixed some errors)
- Browser (rendering optimizations)
- Sprint TV/Radio
- Sprint Navigation (better battery usage)
- Sprint E-mail
- Sprint Music Store
- Visual Voicemail
It sounds like a nice collection of updates for an already popular phone.

The very popular Samsung Instinct has just received a firmware update. To update your phone, go to:
[Menu] –> [Settings] –> [General] and choose “Update phone”.
The update has a few nice tweaks:
- Increased audio volume when using Bluetooth.
- More stable signal and battery bars.
- Allows you to set a saved image as your wallpaper.
- Allows recurring events in the calendar.
- Various improvements to the web browser.
They also announced that a more signficant update was coming later in the year, but they haven’t revealed what that might include.
If you have an Instinct, what do you think of this update? Worth getting?

According to PHONE Magazine, the very iPhone-ish Samsung Instinct is set to launch on June 20.
It looks to be a solid phone — fast EV-DO Rev. A connection, true GPS and lots of touch-screen goodness. No word yet on pricing.

It was rumored to come out on May 9th, but it’s official today.
It’s a good looking phone. I love the form factor, and it’s got a nice, large touchscreen. In addition, it features:
- EV-DO
- GPS
- 2 megapixel camera
- MicroSD
- Full web browser
All in all, it looks to be a pretty slick phone, though it’s certainly going to suffer with Verizon’s horrible UI. Anyone pick one up yet?

I’m pretty sure this will be the form factor of my next phone. I like the idea of a big touch screen on top, with a QWERTY sliding out from below. I’m leading more toward the Sony XPERIA X1, but there’s a number of nice choices on the horizon.
Here are handful of nice photos of the phone, as found at HowardForums (via PhoneMag):
