Boy Genius Report has a bunch of screenshots from the upcoming Windows Mobile version 6.1. Some of the new features in 6.1 include an updated camera interface, an updated home screen, and a handful of other nice features.

TeaShark has just released their mobile browser into beta, and it’s quite impressive. It features a nifty way to handle multiple tabs, the rendering is solid, and load times are quite good. In a lot of ways it feels similar to Opera Mini.
It does a neat thing with its menu. Most of the time, it is compressed to a couple of pixels at the bottom of the screen (see the screenshot on the right). They realize that screen real estate is gold and this feature makes browsing much better.
So far I have just two small complaints:
I can’t log in to AdSense with it. The login boxes simply aren’t there. The same is true with the S60 browser, though Opera Mini handles it just fine.
It wants everything to be a fully-rendered page. I’m still on a cell phone, and I often want mobile versions of sites. They certainly work in TeaShark, but they’re harder to find. I don’t think TeaShark identifies itself to servers as being a mobile browser, so web servers don’t know to push mobile content to it.
All in all, this is an amazing piece of software, especially considering it is only in beta. This could very easily become the primary browser on my phone, and I’m already looking forward to the next version coming out!
Update: It might help if I gave links on how to download it. To get it on your PC (and transfer to your phone), you can go here. To download directly onto your phone, visit wap.teashark.com.
Kevin Rose, the founder of Digg, had some wild speculations about features for the original iPhone. He predicted two battery compartments, a slide-out keyboard and some other things, none of which happened.
He’s at it again. Now he’s predicting that the new iPhone coming this summer, which we know will have 3G support, will have two-way video chat using a dual-camera set-up — the high quality camera on the back, and a lower quality camera on the front, similar to the N95. You’ll be able to chat with other iPhone users or anyone that is using iChat on their Mac. This could be a major game-changer, and make sites like Qik seem like old news.
Given his reputation for inaccurate info before, we have to take this with a grain of salt. Still, it’s fun to think about. Here’s the video where Kevin makes his prediction:
The long-rumored black N82 has finally been announced by Nokia. The phone is due to ship within a few weeks for a little over $600 US.
Also, it sounds like a firmware update might be coming out for the N82 as well, due to a statement in the press release that you’ll be able to upload videos directly to YouTube, a feature currently not available.
A recent patent application from Apple shows what could be a clamshell iPhone. The lid on this phone would be clear and have a multi-touch screen on both sides. When the phone is closed, you can see through the cover and touch it to activate items on the screen. When you open the phone, you can touch the bottom half (the inside of the cover), similar to how most clamshell phones work today.
Unwired View has a more detailed look at this phone, and here are a few pictures:
Yet another amazing-looking concept that we’ll probably never seen, courtesy of JustAMP. I don’t think it’s unreasonable that we could see a device like this one day, but I’m quite sure these are just fantasy sketches at this point.
The famous LG enV phone has a sequel coming out soon, the LG VX9100, and Engadget has the scoop (via PhoneMag). The phone has a much smaller front screen than the previous models, but a QVGA screen on the inside.
Rumor is that it’ll have a 2-megapixel camera and a standard micro USB port, which means you’ll be able to use generic chargers for the phone.
According to Symbian Freak (via NokNok), a major update to the N95 is coming soon. This update will include support for Widgets (Web Run-Time) and Flash Lite 3, among other things. Very impressive! It’s kind of a shame that you’ll be able to get Flash support on the old version of the N95, but apparently not anytime soon on the iPhone.
It appears the the update coming soon will only be for the original N95, but I have to imagine that it will be released for the N95-3 not too long after that. While I love my N95, but biggest disappointment has been a lack of updates for it. Hopefully this will remedy that.
Other changes in this update include:
General stability updates (something my phone could use)
Image rotation improvements in album view
Gallery & Slideshow performance enhancements
It should be a nice update. Let us know when you see it become available.
I’m pretty sure this will be the form factor of my next phone. I like the idea of a big touch screen on top, with a QWERTY sliding out from below. I’m leading more toward the Sony XPERIA X1, but there’s a number of nice choices on the horizon.
